The menopause literally means ‘change of life’ and is broken down between three distinct phases – pre-menopause, peri-menopause and post-menopause.
I have had many women come to see me over the years who feel completely at a loss as to how to deal with various symptoms they are experiencing from hot flushes to mood swings, joint pain to having zero energy.
The main theme is lack of support and trying to deal with feeling like their world has turned upside down! The average age at which most women find their periods may come to an end is 51, but it may be any time between 40 and 58.
Women vary hugely in how they experience the menopause and there are many factors that affect it including nutrition and lifestyle choices as well as stress levels at the time which are different from one person to another.
