This will determine whether Nutritional Therapy is right for you and if you are happy that we would work well together.

I am a certified Nutritional Therapist (qualified in 2009) and a health educator working with schools and in the community to spread the message of nutrition through my ‘Healthy Food Made Easy’ courses.

My Journey Into Nutrition

My journey in to nutrition started with my love of all things food – shopping, cooking and eating all the delicious food which is available to us.  I was lucky to be taught at a young age about the joy of home cooking from the inspirational women in my family – my mother, grandmother and aunt who all helped me develop a love for creating dishes which my family and friends can enjoy.  It is my ultimate passion.

How Nutrition Affects our Health

I got the opportunity to study how nutrition affects our health while living in Canada in 2004. This inspired me to seek a qualification in this area on returning to Ireland.   After qualifying from the Irish Institute of Nutrition and Health, I spent the next 11 years working within the natural health food industry. During this time I gained a wealth of knowledge which I was able to incorporate in to my client consultations to provide the best natural solutions to their health concerns.

Neuro Linguistic Programming

As part of my studies, I received a qualification in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) which is a valuable tool in my consultations as it helps me to work with clients around unhelpful habits or patterns of behaviour which may be holding them back to achieve their health goals.  It explores our mindset and how we communicate with ourselves as well as helping to open up our minds to other ways of thinking.

I aim to make my consultations quite practical, focussing on how healthy foods can be incorporated easily in to the diet.  I want my client to leave me feeling motivated about the nutrition and lifestyle plan we have put together.

Specific Health and Lifestyle Plan

I firmly believe that there is no ‘one fits all’ solution to our health.  Each person is unique so it is important to look at all aspects of a person in order to provide a specific health and lifestyle plan.  A wonderful tool which aids me in this aspect of my consultations is Iridology which I trained in at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2016.

Iridology is the practice of analysing the iris for inherent strengths and weaknesses of organs, tissues and glands.  It can reveal the presence of inflammation within the body.  It is a non-invasive way of reading signals from the body by studying the patterns and colour of the iris (coloured part of the eye).  It is particularly useful where there are lymphatic or digestive health concerns.
